Essential workers

A question I often receive from essential workers is “what should I do with the money I received from my shift bonus”?

I usually tell my clients and prospects “let’s set up a call and discuss what’s best for you”. Everyone has their own unique set of circumstances but I generally start with four core questions:

1) Do you have an emergency fund?

2) Do you have any credit card debt? (we believe in a well-managed budget, it’s hard to target a 6% growth when you're paying 21% on your credit cards.)

3) Are you adding to your 401k/403b to the match or above?

4) Are you able to add to a ROTH or Traditional IRA

Knowing the answer to these four questions allows us to piece together what would be the best plan of action for the person asking. Is it to start saving money for an emergency fund or to start a savings account and save into it monthly. Every Client and prospect is unique at Pawula Financial. We believe in knowing the whole story because if we don’t know or even know what your real goals are, are we really helping you? We pride ourselves in offering a complimentary financial plan for the people working with our firm because we want them to be on the correct path!

Please call-email if you want to discuss what is best for you and your family; we would be honored to help.

Stay warm, but more importantly, stay safe

Ken Pawula
